OUR MISSION

CORE VALUES

In delivering our mandate, we are continually guided by the following:

PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

The Club offers the following services to its members:

  • Tobacco Farmer Talk – Through this program we bring different technocrats in tobacco production to talk about issues affecting tobacco farmers, as well as to train and educate farmers on tobacco production.
  • The Farmer Talk Forum – like Tobacco Farmer Talk, yet this focuses on any other crop but tobacco production. This is also held on the WhatsApp platform where experts are identified across the board and address or talk about various issues affecting farmers across the value chain.
  • TFT Savings and Credit Cooperative (TFT SACCO) – this is still in its infancy and it addresses working capital and other financial needs of the members, most of whom are financially excluded.
  • Farmer Advisory Services – Through these services, farmers get to engage TFT members on various issues regarding their productivity and any issues that may affect them. We also issue periodicals informing farmers on various issues that may include economic, social, and technological among others.
  • TFT Farmer Field Schools (Tobacco and Non Tobacco) – The FFS is run in collaboration with tobacco companies, key government ministries, quasi-government institutions together with most value chain players. The purpose of the Farmer Field School is to bring a hands-on practical approach to the theoretical knowledge that TFT brings to its members via social media and other platforms. This approach brings farmers into the fields to learn in practical terms from each other and other experts in tobacco production, all the processes involved, from land preparation to curing and post harvest handling of the crop. This helps in addressing the skills gap farmers have in tobacco production, thereby ensuring that they produce a quality crop with high corresponding yields. In order to achieve this, TFT works together with various players who are involved in the different areas of the value chain, each focusing on their area of speciality, for example, fertilizer manufacturers teaching farmers on fertilization, chemical suppliers, teaching on same and so forth.
